Memphis barbecue · South Third Street
Jim Neely's 1979 South Memphis original, now under new owner Scooter Moore.
Jim Neely bought a run-down grocery at 2265 S Third in 1978 and 1979 and turned it into Interstate, the place that put the Neely name on Memphis barbecue. He later designed the pits for his nephews' first restaurant.1 Barbara Neely, the face of the dining room for 45 years, died in June 2025. On Aug 3, 2026, Jim Neely sold the Third Street restaurant to Scooter Moore of Scooters BBQ, and said he would still come in daily.34
