Why go
Southern Craft Barbecue had its soft opening on Feb. 24, 2017, in the former Portico building at 601 Spring St.4 Pitmaster Tony Wilson, founder of Creekers BBQ in Stoney Creek, joined Stir Fry Group owners Rafael Zabala and Martin Bagwell to open it.5
The head pitmaster smokes the meats in-house for 8 to 12 hours, and they come with 6 homemade sauces, including Stoney Creek Original.2 Smoked specialties include pulled pork, pork belly, brisket, burnt ends and baby back ribs.2
This Southern Craft is in downtown Johnson City. It is run by RMM Hospitality, the group behind Great Oak Brewery and other regional restaurants.3 Southern Craft also has spots in Kingsport, Greeneville and Bristol, Virginia.1
